Sensation Black is an annual dancing event, held in the Amsterdam Arena every second Saturday of July since 2002. ID&T, the company that organises the event, claim it is the "World's leading dance event" with 40,000 people attending a single show.
During the event, DJs produce music, and attendees (typically dressed in black clothing) dance to the music. The venue has elaborate lighting, fireworks and other visual effects. Each year a special theme is chosen and a corresponding story will be told during DJ changeovers. During these changeovers special effects, video and dancers entertaining the people. Also in the middle of the event is the well know megamix a mix of all (hard) dancehits from the current year. This megamix normally lasts for 30 minutes and is accompanied by mind-dazzling light&laser show, fireworks and acts, this is the moment the crowd is waiting for and is definatly the a big moment during the night at which the crowd goes crazy. The Sensation events are held since 2000 but since 2002 Sensation Black was created in order to give room to genres like hardcore, hard trance and hardstyle, the newly created Sensation White features trance music and house music (often viewed as 'soft' by hardcore music listeners) like the original Sensation event did in the previous two years.
At Sensation Black, it's required to wear black clothes. Sensation Black slowly builds up the pace, starting from Hardtrance to Hardcore. Usually, Sensation Black is like this: Hardtrance, Jumpstyle/Techno, Hardstyle and then Hardcore. Sensation Black is always held in the second weekend of July. Sensation White is held one week before, on the first saturday of July.
