Markus Schulz is a German trance music DJ and producer who currently resides in Miami, Florida, USA. He is best-known for his weekly radio show entitled "Global DJ Broadcast" that airs on Digitally Imported radio.
Born in Germany, Markus emigrated to the United States when he was 13. In his late teens he encountered his first experience with electronic dance music, an interest which he pursued further by opting to establish a career as a DJ. This lead to opportunities such as resident at “The Works†in Phoenix, hosting a radio show “Edge Factor†and running the label “Plastik Records†along with C.L. McSpadden.
However, whilst living in Arizona, Markus struggled to find a definition of sound which left him inspired. After exhausting all the avenues he could possibly pursue, he decided to move to London in an effort to consolidate his future, and resided in his studio on Coldharbour Lane in Brixton. The two years he spent there would prove to be the most crucial in his professional life.
Markus returned to the States and decided to settle with his family in the warm climates of Miami, Florida. His first break arrived however when he was contacted by Dutch DJ Armin Van Buuren, regarding the use of one of his tracks “You Won’t See Me Cryâ€, on Armin’s compilation album Boundaries of Imagination. This marked the point where many fans first became exposed to Markus’ “Coldharbour†sound.
